Writing about two short stories

Two short stories I read, for those interested in the form:

The Recruit, by Justine Hardy

Kinds of Lust by Sheba Karim

I like stories to be concrete sometimes, simple, easy to grasp, willful, strong, subtle, poetic, all in one– and these stories fit the bill.

Do not get me wrong, I like stories that are elusive, too, like a rain-song or a shallow wave, but once in a while the simple, traditional, i-can-hold-this-in-my-hand piece makes my day.
