On this blog, this is my 501st post. Didn’t realize that I’d crossed 500! Spread over 5 years, that isn’t much, but it is still better than nothing.
Now for the belated #writemotivation roundup:
Author friend and blog + twitter pal K T Hanna runs a twitter hashtag for writers, the #writemotivation , where writers sign up and cheer each other on to their respective goals.
The Rules:
- Make a list of realistic goals for the month – and achieve them.
- Make
a Blog Post every week (preferably Monday, but if you don’t post on
Mondays just add it to the next day you would normally post ).
This is to help us keep tabs on our own progress, and for others to
cheer us on if it’s a difficult week. Please link to the post in the
#writemotivation hashtag - Visit your #writemotivation teammates’ blogs, and participate in the #writemotivation hashtag on twitter to cheer people on.
at least thrice last week, which isn’t half-bad, given my general
inconsistency. I haven’t been so good with visiting or commenting
though, and I intend to change that this week.
about 4300 words. I’m through 5 chapters now, and feel both scared and excited about the book.
You'll make the finish line. 🙂
Not so sure I'll make it by December, though Medeia. I'm barely into my 6th chapter, and possibly have 25 more to go. Le Sigh.
Thanks, Trisha. Hope I can hold on for 500 more.
YAY! Well done on 501 posts 🙂
Caitlin– you'll find others who've done far more blogging in 5 years :).
I just realized my other 5 year-old blog is at 527 posts. And I forgot that one has hit 500 as well!
Wow, 500 posts in 5 years is extremely impressive. Will have to check out #writemotivation.
500 posts… That's epic.
I set a goal for 1000 words a day a while back, and while I don't meet it every day, I usually get pretty close. It's awesome to see how everything comes together when you demand that many words be set in stone.
I would die happy if I could write 1000 words a day everyday on a short story or novel. This is my goal too– 5 working days a week=500 words!
501! Congrats. Also 4,300 words out of 5,000 is amazing. Great job and just keep on going.
I intend to keep going. I'm up early today and hitting the road running 🙂
501 posts is definitely something to be proud of! Awesome! I think your goals sound great. Best of luck with your second draft. I have been trying to catch up with my blog and some other "To Do List" stuff this week because work has been so busy. I hope to set some writing goals when I am all caught up with everything else. 🙂

Thanks! My to-do list is a mile long, but I need to get some writing done asap. 5000 words beckon.
Congrats on your 501st post! Your goals sound very ambitious to me, but you're doing a really good job with them. Wishing you good luck on your second draft! 🙂
Thanks, Lexa. I find writing posts easy but a big part of blogging is visiting other blogs and I often struggle with that
So pleased you like my children's story, Damyanti, kind regards, Carole.
I did, Carole. All the best with it, and thanks for stopping by.
Congrats on 501 posts! I also think it's great that you're working so hard on achieving your goals.
Julie
Thanks. I guess working hard is what matters. The rest is hardly ever in our hands.
Way to go!! And congrats on 500! These days writers have so much to juggle. Least we can never say we're bored, right?? 😀
I long for the days when writers just wrote, period. But no one's forcing me to blog, really. I keep biting off more than I can chew.
Congrats! 500 rocks
Oh, this is a great idea!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes, you are getting there-life gets in our way and
creates detours. Keep going 😀
Thanks Ella. Yes, life is all about reaching goals via various detours, isn't it ? 🙂
Wow, over 500 posts? Very cool! I think you've made great progress with your goals, even though you didn't do quite as much as you hoped. Good luck reaching that finish line!
Heather, I hit 500 in 5 years which doesn't make for a great average. Thanks for the words of encouragement and hope you're having a great weekend!
Alex is right, just missing is better than not trying at all. It means you're making progress and you still have time to make that finish line in December.
Yep, I'm still set on December. Wish me luck!
Still really close on your goals. And just missing them is better than not trying at all, right?
Thanks, Alex. That's what I keep telling myself.
